The school boards were abolished under the 1902 Education Act. In their place Local Educational Authorities (LEA’s) were created to organise funding, employ teachers and allocate school places.
The local School Board was replaced with ‘School Managers’. At Newton things largely continued as before with same people wearing different hats.
