Title: | Guest Contribution: Report of a new species of fossil fish from the Wayne Herbert quarry |
Place name: | Newton |
Date: | Devonian geological period |
Description:
The fossil of a fish from the Wayne Herbert quarry in Newton, identified by Susan Turner as a new species, was reported in an article entitled ‘A new articulated Theolodont (Agnatha) from the Early Devonian of Britain’ in the 1982 edition of ‘Palaeontology’, the journal of the Palaeontological Association. The article describes the fossil Nikolivia milesi , so far known only at Wayne Herbert, and compares it with other species of the genus Nikolivia and their distribution in time and place in the Devonian geological period.
