Title: | Photograph of a map of the track of the Golden Valley Railway through land owned by Miss Elizabeth Pugh at Bridge Farm |
Place name: | Abbeydore, Ewyas Harold |
Date: | 1920 |
Description:
Photograph of an extract from Ordnance Survey Map 1920 Sheet XLIV.11, showing the track of the Golden Valley Railway through land owned by Miss Elizabeth Pugh at Bridge Farm, Ewyas Harold, which was the subject of legal proceedings in 1880. The point at issue was the diversion of the river Dore into a goit or trench alongside the track instead of constructing bridges over the original river course. The diversion can clearly be seen on the map.
Observations:
This is part of a wider collection of documents pertaining to a legal dispute in 1880 between the Golden Valley Railway Company and Miss Elizabeth Pugh concerning diversion of the river Dore during construction of the railway.
