Title: | Press Cutting: Report of infestation of worms on oak trees in Newton |
Place name: | Clodock, Newton |
Date: | 1838 |
Description:
Press report dated July 20th 1838 of a peculiar infestation of white worms affecting the oak trees in Newton
Observations:
The report of hairy worms on the oak trees of Newton sounds alarming. I shall look out for them with caution. They may be a specie only observable in the first days of April each year? I have seen something similar before but I called them caterpillars and they were not restricted to Newton.
