Title: | Leaflet: Clodock Church Restoration Fund Appeal |
Place name: | Clodock |
Date: | 1952 |
Description:
The illustrated leaflet briefly describes Clodock Church and its origins, and contains an appeal for £1500 to repair the tower and its peal of bells. The tower is described as in bad condition, except for the walls, with the roof and parapets requiring attention, the oak floors unsafe and the timber frame supporting the bells ‘would probably collapse if they were rung’. Of the bells, cast by John Finch in Hereford in the early 17th Century, ‘only one is sound, and that is so worn after 300 years service that it also needs to be recast.’
