Description:
An order dated 17th May 1814 was made by Tho Leyson and Wm Phillips, Justices of the Peace of the County of Monmouth to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the hamlet of Rogerstone, County of Monmouth, that Margaret Gunter who had become a charge on the hamlet of Rogerstone be removed and conveyed to the parish of Clodock in the County of Hereford which was adjudged to be her place of legal Settlement. She was to be delivered there to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there.
Observations:
It is of interest that the removal of poor persons who had become a charge on the parish was such a common practice that a printed proforma had been prepared for the purpose. A copy of the Order is given below.
