Title:

Probate Collection; Bond and documents for Margaret Jenkins

Place name:

Clodock

Date:

1614

Description:

Documents:
1. Bond
dated
1 September 1612 .
with Bounden: Johan Watkin of Clodock, widow and Henry Watkin of Rowlestone, yeoman.
No surety.

2. Inventory: dated 20[?] November 1614; value £23 6 0d. Assessors William Haye and Thomas William Phe [Phillip(s)]

Observations:

There is nothing to link the bond with the Inventory, nor the inventory with Clodock except the NLW catalogue. It seems likely that the two sheets of paper have at some point been gathered together. The rubric at the top of the inventory is rubbed and faded so that only the names of Margaret Jenkins and the assessors together with the date (although even that is unclear as whether it should 10th or 20th day because of a hole) are clearly readable. But there is no readable mention of Clodock. The filing of this under Clodock seems to have occurred because of the origins of Johan Watkin in the Bond.
The inventory is reproduced below with modern spelling
