To Thomas William, son of William Powell of Clodock, 20/-.
To Margaret William, sister of Thomas William, 20/-.
To Thomas Prise, son of John Prise of
Old Castle , 20/-.
To Elizabeth Prise, wife of John Harry of Comioy [Cwmyoy] and to their three children, John ap John, William ap John and Gwinifrid verch John, £5 to be equally divided between them.
To Mauld Prise, wife of Harry Thomas of St Margarets and their three children, John Harry, William Harry and Lewis Harry, £4 to be equally divided between them plus to Mauld, a feather bed, a flaxen sheet, a little brass pan a little frying pan and a little pewter candlestick.
To John Thomas, Edward Thomas and Mary Thomas, the three children of Thomas John Prise of Clodock, £3 to be equally divided between them.
Lastly she gave 40/- to whoever would take charge of her funeral and interment.

Witnesses: Mauld Prise, Margaret Stradling, and Margaret William Powell.

2. Inventory: nd; value £21 9 10d. Assessors not recorded. .

 

 

Observations:

The documents include a bond the date [damaged and part missing] August 1625 with bounden John Price, gent of Old Castle , county Monmouth in a surety of £40.
There is an endorsement in Latin legalese on the end of the will; the writing is difficult to decipher but two names can be discerned John Price and Morgan, which may refer to Morgan Delahay the vicar of Clodock at the time.
