Documents
1. Will dated
Beneficiaries:
To mother, Margaret Price, one half of a bond for £4 due from Walter Powell of Madely, tailor. The other half to Alce [Alice?] Powell, the daughter of Walter Powell.
Also to mother, Margaret, 2 heifers currently in the possession of Thomas Johns [?]
To sister, Margaret Price, a coffer and 6 pairs of sheets also a brass pot, 4 pewter platters and a pewter candlestick.
Executor: Brother in law John Lewis.
Marked by the testator
Witnesses: Abraham Miles, Lewis Phillipp and Thomas Prichard.
Date of probate: nd
2. Inventory: Dated
Observations:
The will is much damaged on the right hand side and has a fold across the parchment in two places that hides a number of words but the sense can be found from subsequent wording.
There is a discrepancy over who has the 2 heifers, the will states 'Thomas Johns' and whilst the word "Johns" can be disputed this name is a long way from the 'David Powell' named in the Inventory. 3 sheets in all.
