1. Will dated 13 October 1643
This is a complex will that largely revolves around two leases; the first from Lord Bergavenny dated 12 May 1634 for a parcel of meadow of 3 acres called Lady Meadow together with two other parcels of pasture of 9 acres lying in Clodock for the lives of Joan, reputed daughter of the testator with William and John his sons for the life of the longest liver for an annual rent of 3/4d and 'two quick [live] hens'
The second lease also from Henry Lord Abergavenny dated 10 June 1638 was for 40 acres or thereabouts called Mayneglase and Byhome again for the lives of reputed daughter Joan and sons William and John at the annual rent of 6/3d and 'a couple of fat capons' with a herriot of 5/- at the change.
On 10 October 1643, three days before this will was written sealed and witnessed, the testator conveyed these leases to Phillipp Watkins, gent whilst still leaving his wife, Joan [or Johan], as beneficiary of the premises which she is to use to pay Lewis Gilbert of Old Court, gent and William Gilbert his brother £30 with the interest due.
On wife Joan's death the premises are to pass to eldest son William on condition he pays his brother Thomas John Powell, £20 within a year of his mother's death. Should William refuse to pay the premises are to go to Thomas.
To son, Thomas, £10
To eldest son, William, the best bedstead, best brass pan and the two best table boards.
To wife Joan, all household stuff, and implements of husbandry for her lifetime and then to youngest sons John and Thomas.
The rest of his goods, cattle and chattels to Joan, wife for the settling of debts, funeral expenses and payment of legacies.
Executrix: wife, Johan.

2. Inventory: undated; value £27 5 2d. Appraisers [indecipherable] Harry George, David Thomas, Howell Ychan.
Observations:
The documents include a bond undated with bounden Johan Powell of Clodock, widow and Fabian Phillipps of the same, gent in a surety of £100.
