1. Will 19 February 1654 .
Request to be buried within the parish church of Clodock
Beneficiaries:
To the Cathedral Church of St Davids, 6d.
To the parish church of Clodock for the recasting and renewing of the bells, 40/-
To Thomas ap Robert, one of the sons of Robert David of Oldcastle, co. Monmouth; Watkin William John ap John, son of William John ap John 'begotten on the bodie of Maud veh David'; Rice Harry Nichol son of Harry Nichol 'begotten on the bodie of Isabel veh David'; and Margery veh David, wife of Thomas Powell of Oldcastle, the testator's sister, all his freehold properties in Clodock and Partrisoe, county Breknock . the properties to be equally divided into 4 parts.
Also to the above, all his copyhold lands held by copy of court roll 'under the right worshipful Gwyne Hopton and Dorothie his wife for divers years enduring' and all his leasehold lands held of the Rt Hon Lord Bergavenny for the years enduring.
To 'Lure [Laura?] my base daughter begotten upon the bodie of Gwenllian William', £40 when she reaches 14. In addition executors are to pay 40/- per year for her maintenance until her 14th birthday. In addition if Lure is kept and brought up by her mother or others of mother's friends then the executors are to pay an extra £24 when she reaches 14.

To Elizabeth veh Williams, one of the daughters of William John, £3. To be paid within 4 years of the death of the testator.
To Johan veh Thomas, £3.
To Phillip John Madock, £3 13 4d
To Richard John Madock, £3 6 8d
To Alice veh Robert and Margaret veh Robert, £6 to be divided equally between them.
To Allson William John, Margaret William John and Maud William John, 13/4d to be divided equally between them
To Jane and Joan daughters of Watkin ap Glin 13/4d to be divided equally between them
To Richard ap Rice, 40/- and to Jane and Maud two of his sisters, 13/4d to be divided equally between them
To David ap Rice, 13/4d to be divided between his daughters

The will then continues with complex instructions concerning the settling of debts.

Executors: brother in law Thomas Powell, nephews Robert David, Watkin William, Johnap John and Rice Harry Nichol
