'
My bodie to be buried in the parish
church of St Clidog '.
Beneficiaries:
To the cathedral
church of St Davids , 12d.
To dd [Probably an abbreviation for David - see witness list below] Hughes, clerk for my forgotten tythes , 8d
To Watkin ap Harry my eldest son a tenement of lands with their appurtenances called Tere [tyr ] kradock lying in the parish of clodock and 10 kine which are upon the aforesaid in the hands of John lluis [Lewis] Thomas 'and have also to feed the 10 kine for one winter. And my son Watkin shall not enter into ….Tere Kradoige   with the 10 kine for the space of five years and that shall finish upon St Andrews day next coming come two years after the date above written.'
To Harry, son, 40/- yearly during the term of the lease on
Old Court . Son not to 'meddle' with Old Court or anything therein.
To son, John ap Harry, £15.
To Ellinor veh Harry, daughter 20, 'her bedd with his appurtenances and her wedding garment'.
To Jaky veh Harry, daughter, £20 and a bed and wedding garment.
To wife, Johan veh Phe Henry, all goods and cattle not already bequeathed.

Executors: wife, Johan veh Phe Henry and William ap Prees Griffiths with overseers Howell [?] ap Henry Price and Yhomas John Griffith

Date of Probate: 6 March 1563.

 

 

Observations:

As this is taken from a copy of the will deposited at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury there are no supporting documents.
This will is written in 16 century secretary hand. It is supplemented by a list of debtors, below, showing the testator must have been something of a local banker.
