Description

1. Will [6 pages] dated 13 January 1574.(Elizabeth 17)
To wife, Alice, 13 kine 'wheareof Eight be uppon her londes called Bulva and the other five shallbe of the best of myne owne kine saving twelve that I shall bequeathe to my youngest daughter, Alice.'
Also to wife, Alice, 40 sheep 'that be about my house', best horse, gelding or mare, half the corn 'I shall have or shall be dewe [due] unto me the daie of my death for the hire of myne Oxen', all that part of 'my corn growing upon my wifes said londes called Bwlva'[note alternative Welsh spelling of Bulva]. All the household stuff and household implements that she will honestly say she brought to the marriage; with the Executor exhorted to recompense her for wear and tear.
To Alice, wife, 4 bullocks or £4 for them, 8 goats, 6 pigs, half the geese and pullets and half the corn in the barn.
To Alice, wife, all such debts, duties and sums of money whereof specialties, be made to her and to her brother Thomas ap Howell.
To Alice, youngest daughter, ' in lieu of £20 that I stand bound to leave her to be paid her after the death of my said wife Alice, her mother' : 12 of the best kine, 6 oxen or £12 for them, 3 score of the best sheep either at the house or amongst those out on hire, the other half the corn from the hire of the oxen, half the corn growing, a feather bed with appurtenances, the second best horse, gelding or mare, half the corn in the barn, half the gees and pullets, 4 goats, 4 pigs, best new coffer, 2 pewter dishes, best brass pan, best brass pot and a candlestick.
Alice is to choose whether to take the listed items or the £20.
To William David ap Ionan [or Jonan], the son of daughter Elyse, 'for all such debts and duties I owe him, £20.
To William, son, 20 sheep and 20 lambs that are out at hire 'and that first come home with the hire for them then dewe,' and  2 kine or 40 shillings for them.
To Katherine viz David, my wife's daughter, 20 lambs or 33/4d
To Anne viz David, my wife's daughter, 10 lambs or 16/8d.
To the son and daughter of John Myle twenty lambs between them or 33/4d for them.
To the 3 daughters of James ap Howell and Elise his wife, three score lambs or £5 for them to be divided equally between them when they come of age..        
To Myle and John, the two sons of James and Elise, 40 lambs or 6 marks to be delivered as above and a reasonable hire  to be paid yearly  in the meantime to the said Myle for his part of the lambs to maintain   him at school..
To John Tailour and Elizabeth his wife, 4 oxen and one cow that are already in his hands.
Similarly to John Nicholl and Margerie his wife, a cow and 23 sheep already kept by them.
'I will that my Executour shall use my debtours gentlie and with conscience as many of them as will agree with him without sewte of lawe'.

Executors: Son, Thomas Mile Hunt.

Observations

As this is taken from a copy of the will deposited at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury there are no supporting documents.
