Description:

1. Will dated 29 June 1802 .
Beneficiaries:
To wife, Sarah Davies, his freehold property called Hunthouse for life so long as she remains a widow, subject to the payment of the interest on the principal sum of £300 now due and secured by mortgage. On her death or remarriage the property is to pass to any lawful heirs he may have by his wife. Should there be no such heirs the property is to pass to his nephew, John Edwards, son of the testator's sister, Mary Edwards again subject to the payment of interest and also subject to the charge of a £30 annuity to wife Sarah for her lifetime being paid out of the estate. [after her remarriage]
To nephew William Edwards, £100
To nephew, James Edwards, £60
To nephew, Thomas Edwards, £60
To nephew, Joseph Edwards, £60
To nieces, Ann and Mary, daughters of sister Mary Edwards, £60 each

All these bequests to be paid on the death or remarriage of Sarah.
Wife Sarah is to have the use of his clock and case, dresser in the kitchen, featherbed, bolster, 2 pillows, bedstead, 2 quilts, 2 pair of sheets , 2 pair of blankets and all cupboards and fixtures in the house for her lifetime or until second marriage and thence to nephew John Edwards.
All goods, chattels and personal estate to Sarah subject to the payment of all debts except the mortgage.

Executrix: Sarah Davies, wife.

Witnesses: Thomas Jones, Charles Lloyd of Llangattock, Lingoed, Monmouthshire .

Date of Probate: 13 February 1807.

 

 

Observations:

As this is taken from a copy of the will deposited at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury there are no supporting documents.
This is a rather long and rambling will in a not very readable hand.
