Description:

1. Will dated 30 April 1686 .
To son, Samuel, The moiety of all the messuages etc. in Bacton and St Margarets purchased of Mary Brace, spinster, upon the death of Elizabeth, the testator's wife, on the condition that within a year of Elizabeth's death Samuel pays £100 to his sisters Sarah, Rachel and Susanna in what ever proportion Elizabeth directs in her will. If Samuel defaults then the moiety is to pass to daughter Susanna and she to pay the proportions of the £100 as directed by her mother's will.
To wife, Elizabeth, all the parcels of land mortgaged to the testator by John Delahay, clerk [vicar of Clodock] for £100 and the interest thereon. On condition that that
Elizabeth pays £100 to the 3 daughters again with similar provisions as above.
To Samuel, one settle 'in my dwelling house called Newhouse', tableboards and frames,  benches and forms and one bedstead 'in the parlour there' and 3 bedsteads in 'my house wherein John Powell now dwelleth, three table boards and two frames there' also 6 benches , and all the shelves in the Dairy and Hall plus a bedstead and all tableboards and frames, a cupboard, all the benches and forms  and 'all other my goods now remaining in my Upper House heretofore of my uncle Rowland.' On condition that Samuel or his heirs permits his 3 sisters the unfettered use of the Parlour and the Solar over the parlour of Upper House together with the garden adjoining the parlour and permission 'to cut take and carry into the fould there necessary fireboot…' If Samuel defaults then everything goes to the 3 sisters.
To wife,
Elizabeth , all leasehold holdings in Rowlestone, Llancillo and Cwmyoy which the testator holds by indenture dated 12 November 1683 from his daughter Elizabeth. Also to wife, Elizabeth all the properties situated at Snodhill, parish of Peterchurch leased from James Good, gent. by indenture dated 22 October 1674 by way of mortgage for £200.
All the remainder of his property and effects chattels and cattle to be used by his wife for the benefit of his daughter and their advancement and preferment in marriage. Eventually to be split up between the three of them.

No indication whether signed or marked by testator.

Witnesses: Wal. Phes.[Phillips], Thomas Prosser of St Margarets, Robt Harrison and Jo. Davies.

Observations:

As this is taken from a copy of the will deposited at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury there are no supporting documents.
This will was rather complex although the calligraphy was very clear and easy to decipher.
