Description:

 Statutory Receipt from Maude Ellen Bull acknowledging full repayment of the principal and interest from a Mortgage Indenture dated 28th January 1922 [of Clodock Mill and land in the township of Longtown, parish of Clodock, to secure £250 and interest at six percent, made between the borrower Anne Lewis of Hunthouse Road, Clodock, wife of William Lewis, and the mortgagee Maude Ellen Bull of Harley House Hereford, spinster; see LHS Archive reference rs_clo_0038].
The receipt is dated the 23rd February 1935, naming Lilian Ann Lewis and Florence May Lewis both of The Mill Clodock, spinsters, representatives of Anne Lewis who died on the 15th January 1934 and whose will they proved on 9th May 1934 in the Gloucester District Probate Registry.

Also included, a Memorandum dated 26th February 1935 stating that the principal sum of £250 repaid was provided from the executors of Mrs Ann Lewis from her estate (£55.5.10), by Florence May Lewis (£150.0.0) and by William Lewis (£44.14.2). The amount provided by William Lewis is agreed to be for the benefit of his five daughters who will on his death succeed to the property in equal shares, but on any sale of the property the £150 paid by Florence May Lewis is to be accounted for to her.
