Image of newspaper cutting dated 12 July 1856 advertising an auction sale by Mr John Williams of: a freehold estate called Great Blackhill Farm, with its rectorial tithes, of about 131 acres with farm house barns and outhouses in the occupation of Elijah Jones as tenant; an estate called Little Blackhill with a newly erected dwelling house, barn and outbuildings and about 34 acres, now in the possession of the proprietor, and held copyhold of the Manor of Ewyas Lacy for three healthy lives; land called ‘Georges’ of about 13 acres in possession of the proprietor held under lease from the Earl of Abergavenny for two healthy lives. The property has extensive right of common on the neighbouring hills [Black Mountains].
