Description
page 236 of reference
Short discussion on the date of the foundation of the Grandmontine priory at Crasswall, put by Rose Graham at about 1225 but which Hillaby suggests may have been between the peace made with Llewellyn in 1218 and de Lacy's loss of shrievalty in 1223
Describes also how de Lacy gave 204 acres of woods at Holm Lacy to the priory whilst the same woods had, at the same time been pledged as a surety for de Lacy's debt to the Jews and the subsequent legal battles with de Lacy's creditors.
Observations:
The reference is a long and meticulously researched article by Joe Hillaby.
