Beneficiaries:

£10, due from Rees Phe Parry by bond 'for the sum of £20 for payment of £10 19 8d' to go to granddaughter Alce [Alice] , base daughter of David Thomas William. £10 and no more, to be paid her on 2nd February next. Alce also to receive a brass pan, 'a coffer of the biggest sort', one stand, one flock bed, one bolster, a coverlet and a blanket.
To grandchild, John ap John, £4 8 0d from part of a bond due from William Watkin, it seems that there will be more money to come which John is to have when he reaches 21, but until that time he is to have the annual interest.
To son in law, John Thomas, husband to base daughter, Mauld verch John,£3 from a bond due from Rees Phe Parry to be paid John Thomas on February 2nd next. [This is almost certainly part of the same bond mentioned above]. John Thomas is also to have 22/- owed the testator by Elizabeth Lewis wife of Lewis Gilbert together with a brass pot and a frying pan.
To Alce, 20/-, the last rent of the £10.mentioned above, towards her maintenance.
The sum of 9/- due from Jaine verch Madocke and
To John Thomas, 4/- which is due from Lewis Morgan.
A further 4/-, due from Johan Thomas, also to go towards the proving of the will. If Johan pays up the executors are to give her a flaxen sheet on payment.
She leaves 8/- for funeral expenses.
All the rest of her goods unbequeathed to the executors to dispose of at their discretion.
Executors: Charles Jones and Howell Prichard with Lewis John, overseer.
Marked by testator
Witnesses: Rees Phe Parry, John Thomas, Lewis John and John Gwynn.
Date of Probate:
2. Inventory: undated, value £22 6 6d. Appraisers: Rees Harry, Rees ap Parry and Rees Lewis
Observations:
Base daughter having base grandchild, it seems there was a certain lack of morals in this family. Was the testator a single mother? She is not described as a widow.
There is a bond dated 12 June 1621 with bounden Charles Jones of Clodock, yeoman and Meredith ap Meredith also of Clodock, yeoman in a surety of 100marks [£66 13 4d] .
Whilst the handwriting of the will is reasonably clear the meaning of the paragraph relating to Alce's £10 is rather obscure until you read the inventory.
Including Bond and cover sheet- 5 sheets in all.
Her inventory is reproduced below with modern spelling.
