Observations:

In spite of the simplicity of this will, there was some difficulty in proving it. It looks as though the will was contested by the testator's brother, William Powell, who was described as the 'next of kin' of the deceased. One of the witnesses, Thomas Price, stated that on 3 October , having been asked by Lewis Powell to write his will, did so, taking instruction ' by word of mouth'. The will having been written, he read it over to Lewis Powell in English and immediately afterwards explained 'the substance of the same in Welsh'.
