Photographs of the Court Books of the Manor of Ewyas Lacy, being the records of the Manorial Court Leet concerning variously the type of tenancy of land, names of tenants, property area and boundaries, rent values, field names, property names and other matters to do with property and its occupancy in the manor and its parishes, including Craswall, Llanveynoe, Longtown, Michaelchurch, Newton, St Margarets and Walterstone.

The material covers a period of nearly 100 years from the 1620s to the early 1700s. It includes what appear to be fairly comprehensive tabulations by parish based on periodic surveys carried out by a jury as well as less formal notes of changes made each year presumably by the Steward of the Lord of the Manor, or whoever maintained the Court books. Much of the material is hard to read, and often written in Latin. The bound folio in the Gwent Record Office appears to have some pages missing, and many pages also appear to be out of date sequence.

Absent a full transcription and/or detailed study, however, they are presented here in sequence as found, divided arbitrarily into convenient file sizes for download of the images in PDF files.  The table below gives, where possible, an indication of the nature and dates of the material included in each file. Click on the links to download the PDF files. Bear in mind that file sizes are large, as they contain full-size images that are ‘zoomable’ for ease of study.
