Observations:

This is an extract from a taxation return covering the whole country. Scutage was 'a tax, instead of personal service which a vassal or tenant owed to his lord, sometimes levied by the crown  in feudal times' according to Chambers Twentieth Century Dictionary. Thus

FOR THE FIRST SCUTAGE OF HENRY III'S WITHOUT REMISSION
Peter Scudamor [blank] 10 marks for the fee of Robert of Ewyas who has been of service.

and

Robert Tresgoz assessed for 39 marks, 19 for the fee of the service of Robert of Ewyas. In the treasury [paid already] 4 marks and owes 34 marks.
Walter de Lacy assessed for 102 marks
and a half of 51 of service and a fourth part of his service. In the treasury [i.e.already paid] £16. And owes £52 and half a mark [i.e.£52 6 8d].
