Image of newspaper cutting dated 1 February 1898 reporting the sale, by the liquidator, of the Golden Valley Railway Company to the Great Western Railway Company for the sum of £10,000. The capital of the Company is reported as £159,000 debenture stock, £69,000 preference shares and £106,786 ordinary shares, plus £1,400 of Lloyd’s bonds outstanding. The report adds that the company has always, since its opening beyond Dorstone, operated at a loss, and is currently closed to traffic between Dorstone and its terminus at Hay.
