The overall description given in the particulars is as follows:

 

No. 2 Birch Cottages, Vowchurch, is a pretty semi-detached period cottage with a well fitted kitchen and breakfast room, two first floor bedrooms, and spacious landing, together with a very comfortable detached lodge offering additional accommodation.

The cottage itself is thought to be one of two original railway workers cottages and is set in open countryside in the heart of the Golden Valley with views over adjoining farmland

Observations:

Birch Cottages are situated a few hundred yards from the site of the old, now dismantled,Vowchurch Station and goods yard on the Golden Valley Railway line. They were presumably built by the Golden Valley Railway Company for staff employed there.
