Description

1. Will dated 28 February 1855 .
Just debts, testamentary and funeral expenses with the bequests in her late husband John Jones' will to be fully paidout of her personal property as far as it can. If that is insufficient then her Cayo estate is to be charged by her executor, raising a mortgage if necessary.
Beneficiaries:
To James James and mary Jane James his sister of Rockfield,
County Monmouth , the Cayo estate and Cayo fach all in the tenancy of William Evans. Subject to the payment of £10 to be paid to the residentiary Minister and church wardens annually, for ever, and to be divided in the following manner and paid half yearly that is: £5 worth of coal to be distributed amongst the poor of Longtown and Llanveynoe by the minister and churchwardens, at their discretion, on every New Years day and on the 1 July each year, £5 to the National School at Longtown, This bequest is not to come into force until nine month after the testator's death. Further the minister for the time being or the churchwardens are authorised to distrain the Cayo estate if the money is at any time not paid.

Observations

As this is taken from a copy of the will deposited at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury there are no supporting documents.
An interesting will in it setting up a perpetual charity.
