Beneficiaries: To Jane, his wife, the Messuage and tenement known as Byly Bach [Bailey Bach?], and after her death to his son John Powell, paying £100 to his brother James out of the estate. William Gilbert of the Blackhill to act as trustee over John and James.

His wife, Jane to be executrix.

Mark of testator.

Witnesses: William Gilbert, William George, John Symonds.

2. Inventory: dated 26 June1824, value £55 11 0d. Appraisers: John Davies and William Gilbert.

 

 

Observations:

Number of documents 7, including 2 pages of Will. Unusually, the inventory lists "a Quantity of books", as well as a gun and 2 spinning wheels. The wide gap between the date of the inventory and the granting of probate was because the widow was not aware that the latter was necessary "until recently informed to the contrary". She had by this time remarried and become Jane George, and his son, John was living at Goytre in Llancillo.
