1. Will dated 15 March 1684
Beneficiaries:
The testator state that his mortgage of £200 be repaid to the mortgagor, Mr Maddy, if he will accept the early repayment. If not then the £200 is to be secured on some other mortgage until the original mortgage can be repaid.
His wife to have the disposal of all his lands and tenements in Longtown which he purchase from his brother Samuel Watkins and his mother in law Mrs Elizabeth Walbeef, during the minority of his children for their education and upbringing.
His two sons, Michael and Richard, are to be provided, out of the estate, 'to be placed out as clerks or apprentices as soon as they are fit and qualified'. And once they have reached 21 the land is to be sold and equally distributed between his wife his sons and his daughter Mary. If his wife dies or remarries then the executors are to see to the education of the children and his wife is to have no part of the money

Executors: wife and daughter, Mary jointly with Overseers: mother in law Mrs Elizabeth Walbeef, sister, Mary Lewis, brother Silvanus Lewis, 'my dear cousin' Mr Michael Morgan and Mr William Morgan.
