Description:
1. Will [3 pages] dated 22 January 1844:
Beneficiaries: To Mary, wife, all his farms and lands called Penyworlodd and Bethel and Catack and all his other messuages etc lying in Rowlestone and Longtown for her lifetime and afterwards;
To Thomas Hoddell, Innholder, of City of Hereford and John Gwillim of Helm farm, Ewyas Harold to sell everything upon trust to divide the proceeds between sons, James, William, John and Philip and daughter, Ann Pendry equally except that the advance of £100 which Ann had already had was to be taken into account in apportioning her share.
However if it is necessary to raise money to discharge any bond of the testator's then, if the trustees want to sell Penyworlodd and Bethel, son William should have first refusal at a fair valuation or if there is a need to sell Catack then it must be offered to son, Philip at a similar fair valuation.

Observations:
It is possible that the Archdeaconry court at Brecon made a date error. The registration instruction is headed 'At Brecon 9th day of January 1849'. However the final lines state that the 'testator died on the 1st day of November 1849'.
