Title: | Michaelchurch Mill Spout Floor plan |
Place name: | Michaelchurch Escley |
Date: | 1994 |
Description:
Schematic of the spout floor of Michaelchurch mill, showing the layout of the machinery and interior. Surviving components are shown in their present positions. Other aspects of the layout are compiled from the best recollections of Warren Lewis (who was Miller in Michaelchurch and operated this mill between 1925 and 1930) and other local residents who still remember seeing the mill working. In a few areas where memories failed, the layout of Pontys Mill, a few miles downriver towards Longtown, has been used as a model. At the time of writing, Pontys mill is still mainly intact internally, and the machinery design and layout is very similar indeed to what remains at Michaelchurch.
The drawing is not to scale.
