To wife, Sarah, 'this house I now live in with the lands belonging, lying under a mortgage of £100 to John George of Oldcastle' together with all his personal estate 'the better to enable her to Discharge my Small Debts.'
To daughter, Anne, 'the copyhold lands I hold from Lord Abergavenny.'
To daughter Elizabeth, 5/-.

Executrix: his wife, Sarah.

Signed by testator.

Witnesses: Henry Morgan, James Morgan and John Powell.

7 February 1738/9 , value £61 16 6d. Appraisers John Powell and David Roberts.

 

 

Observations:

Documents include a bond [marked X4 by NLW] dated 7 June 1739 with bounden, Sarah Smith of Michaelchurch Eskley, widow and Job Gilbert of Craswall, gentleman in a surety of £1000 for Sarah Smith to return the will to the registry of the Archdeaconry of Brecon.
Also included are depositions in the case of Sarah Smith v
Elizabeth wife of John Walters junior. Depositions from John Powell of Michaelchurch Eskley, yeoman aged 46; Henry Morgan of Clodock, yeoman aged 55; James Morgan of Clodock, yeoman aged 30. The depositions are dated 28 February 1738/9 and state that David Smith died in January 1738/9.
The inventory included 4 acres of corn in the ground, horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry.
