1. Will dated 29 August 1575
Beneficiaries:
To the curate of the church of Michaelchurch Eskley for forgotten tithes, 2/-
To the 'reparacion of the church aforesaid', 3/-
To eldest son, Griffith Harry Powell, all those lands, tenements, meadows, leasows, pastures, woods and underwoods and all other hereditaments both free and and customary in Michaelchurch Eskley which he had by gift from his father Howell Glln ap Fenn
To second son, James Henry Powell all those lands etc which the testator bought from David ap Richard ap Howell ap Fenn and from Philipp John William. Should James have no legitimate heirs the lands from David ap Richard ap Howell ap Fenn are to go to
Griffith on payment to third son David of £40 and with the land from Philipp John William going to
David.
To third son, David, all those tenements etc lying in Michaelchurch Eskley which he purchased from Howell ap Richard ap Morgan excepting and reserving the use and profit of the same unto the testator's wife, Anne for the 12 years following his death so long as she remains unmarried. [ there follow complex and legalistic instructions as to what happens if David has no legitimate heirs] Finally if none of the sons produce legitimate heirs the lands are to pass to John Parry of Dulas.
To Katherine, daughter, £60 and 'the encrease thereof to be paid at the day of her marriage'. If she marries without the consent of his executors then half the
three score pounds is to be divided between his other children.
Similarly daughter Margaret is to receive £13 6 8d with the same proviso.
To Sybill, 'my base daughter', £13 6 8d to be paid in similar fashion.
To son Richard, £13 6 8d.
To his wife, the use of half his household stuff plus 8 kine. The other half to Griffith and James.
To sister, Katherine, £3 6 8d
To sister, Ciceley, 40/-
To sister in law, Sibill Weston, 26/8d
To Alson [Alison?] ux[wife of?] Phe Harri £3 6 8d
To daughter, Johan, wife of David ap Morgan 2 kine and 20 sheep 'now being in their own keeping and a third cow also being in their possession.
To son,
Griffith , £6 13 4d.
£6 13 4d to be employed by John Parry of Dulas, exectutor, for the maintenance of his children Katherine, David and Margaret.
To son, James £3 6 8d.
Residual legatee John Parry of Dulas in recognition of his work as executor.

Observations:

As this is taken from a copy of the will deposited at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury there are no supporting documents.
The details of this will are incomplete as there is a codicil of which 4 lines only are available. So far as it goes it seem to be an apportioning of household effects and livestock between his sons and daughters.
