1. Will (nuncupative) dated 6 May 1595
Beneficiaries:
To wife, Sibill, 5 bullocks of 3 years old and one yearling bull, 4 sucking calves, one colt and one nag or gelding and all the household stuff 'during her widowhood but if she do happen to marry' she is to distribute the stuff between the 2 sons and 2 daughters.
Also to his wife all the grain and corn in the barn and in the ground 'to mayntayne and keep her children as shall appertayne'.
To Henry, his eldest son, 'all such implements such as do belong to his teame'
To son, William, the lease which he lately purchased of Walter ap Leny of Winforton for and during the agreed term.
To sons , William and David, £10 being in the hands of eldest son Henry. Henry is to pay the £10 for the perpetual use of one welsh acre of land called Errow y Marsh. If the payment is not made then William and David are to retain the said acre for ever.
To his two sons, William and David , 4 oxen, 4 heifers ( 2 of 3 yrs old, 1 of 2 yrs and one yearling heifer), 11 old sheep and nine lambs. Also 13/4d due upon eldest son, Henry. All legacies for William and David are to be equally divided between them save the lease which is to go to William alone.
To eldest daughter, Maude and daughter Jane, £30 and 7 kine and a heifer and twenty of the best sheep all to be divided equally between them.
To Maud, one covering for a bed and to Jane one other covering or 'helige' for a bed.
The rest of all his cattle, chattels and household stuff to go to his executrix.
Memorandum: [added it seems as an afterthought] That Henry should not be constrained to pay the £10 for his acre to his brothers until within twelve months after his marriage and then in two payments.
