Title: | Restoration of the waterwheel at Michaelchurch Mill |
Place name: | Michaelchurch Escley |
Date: | 2001 |
Description:
This photograph shows the overshot waterwheel being stripped of its backing plates and buckets, to free up the two rim assemblies for cleaning and restoration before refitting new metalwork. The structure is bolted together, and here John Burt from Firs Farm, Michaelchurch Escley is cutting the heads off the old, rusted bolts with an angle grinder to free one of the buckets. The curved castings on the wheel rims, which locate the buckets precisely in place, can clearly be seen.
Observations:
None
