Beneficiaries
to the wardens of the high altar of the Cathedral Church of St Davids, 4d.
To the repair of the church of Rowlestone, 12d
To Alson [Alison in the probate judgement], wife 2 oxen, 3 kine, a grey mare and a dun calf.
To Matthew, son, a bullock and a black mare and a colt.
To Johane, Marie, Sibill and Isabell, daughters, a cow and 2 heifers each. Also to the four daughters, £10 in the hands of Hugh Saunders of Llangua and £6 in the hands of James ap Gwatkin of Grossmont, to be divided between them. If any of them should die before they reach 21 or marriage their portion to be divided amongst the survivors.
To James, son, all freehold lands and tenements.
To son, Matthew, a lease on the wood called Pryors Wood 'Cay yr Pandee' [Pandy] and Yenis y velin held from John Scudamore of Kenchurch Esq. dated 31 May 1575 for the remainder of the 50 year term.
To James, another lease from John Scudamore Esq. on certain lands called Ynis yr Hendor and other land in the Lordship of Llangua in the parish of Llancillo and Rowlestone mentioned in the same lease dated
Wife, Alson is to occupy one half of the same lease with James during her widowhood but as soon as 'she shall be assured or married to any other man', she loses her half whoich passes to James.
To Alson and James, £6 12 2d in the hands of Mr Thomas Scudamore of Kenchurch.
Residual legatees Alson and James equally.
Should either Matthew or James die before reaching 21 their legacy passes to the survivor.
