Place name:

St Margarets

Date:

1630

Description:

Documents

1. Bond dated 8 January 1630 with bounden:
Elizabeth Lewis of St Margarets county Brecon, widow and Hugh Evans of
Brecon Town,
yeoman in a surety of £10.

Date of probate: as bond.

2. Inventory: dated
7 January 1630;
value £1  19  7d. Appraisers: Lewis Fannel, Thomas Price and Humfrey Ball.

Observations:

The clerk writing out the bond has got the county wrong when he put St Margarets in County Brecon. The inventory is badly written in a very uneducated hand ; the rubric at the top of the inventory tells us that Howell Prichard died on 31st December 1630  so we know that they are using the old calendar when they date the bond and inventory to 1630 too.

His inventory is reproduced below with modern spelling.
