Beneficiaries: To wife, Katherine, his 'right and interest in a house and incroachment which I have upon the common of
Also to wife, Katherine, all his live stock, implements of husbandry, corn and grain growing, household effects and all other chattels, for her lifetime and then to be divided equally between son, James and daughter Jane.
Wife Katherine is to have no authority to arrange any alternative disposal of his goods. [this seems to have been qualified by allowing her to dispose of 'what shall happen to be spare'. Presumably this would be any increase in the stock etc that she through good management could achieve]. She is also allowed to dispose of the legacies of any of the children who die before her.

The date in the will looks like 'Jan' rather than 'Jun' , but January 1699, by their calendar, would fall after September so it must be June not January when the will was prepared.
