Description:

1. Will: dated 2 October 1704 .
Beneficiaries: To his mother, Elizabeth Parry, ' my whole substance real estate goods and chattels except that part or parcel of land that's in my mothers jointure I give and bequeath to my brother James after my mothers decease'.
To brother, James, the annual rent of a meadow called the Pant Meadow and a croft of ground behind the barn.
Mother to pay his debts which are itemised as:
£140 to James Lewis of
county Monmouth ; £20 to Phillip Morgan of Bacton; £2 4s to James Parry of Clodock; £1 8s to Thomas Harper of St Margarets; 14/- to Aithan Lewis of Llaneigon; 6/- to John Knight; 6/- to Margaret Price; 15/- to Thomas Prichard.
  Anything remaining after these payments to be equally divided between his brothers and sister.

Executrix: mother, Elizabeth Parry with Thomas Rogers of Abbey Dore and James Parry of Clodock nominated as guardians of his will.

2.Inventory: none but coversheet endorsed 'Inv: £7 2 6d'

 

 

Observations:

Documents include a separate Latin registration instruction and a coversheet; 3 sheets in all.
It is interesting to see the level of debt carried by this yeoman The £140 was probably his mortgage. With an additional debt of £25 13 0d, he owed a total of £165 13 0d, a hefty amount for those times.
